DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY: Jesus told St. Faustina that the Feast of Mercy would be a very special day when "all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened". Our Lord made this great promise to all those who would go to Him on the on the Sunday after Easter, which is now called Divine Mercy Sunday throughout the Catholic Church. St. Peter’s Church will be hosting a celebration of Divine Mercy on this Sunday, March 30th. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 12:15 p.m. in the church with the Sacrament of Reconciliation available in the chapel from 1:30-2:30 p.m. At 12:30 p.m. and again at 1:45 p.m., the video, Time For Mercy, will be shown in the Emmaus Room. The Chaplet and Prayer Service will begin at 3 p.m. in the church followed by the blessing of religious objects.

A DOUBTING THOMAS: Today's Gospel reading focuses on Thomas doubting the resurrection until he can physically see the nail holes and the lanced side of Jesus. While one may wonder about the seeming lack of faith of Thomas, he is a somewhat more sympathetic person. After the crucifixion, he was so distraught that he withdrew by himself, away from the others. At times, our faith can be shaken so strongly that we, too, withdraw into doubt and fear. We should probably realize that when Thomas withdrew by himself, he spent a great deal of time in prayer, asking for forgiveness and strength to believe in the promise of the resurrection. And when he was told of it, his faith let him go back to be convinced. Our Catholic faith teaches that whatever we ask for in prayer, believe that we will receive it, and we will.

THANK YOU FROM A GRATEFUL PARISH: Thank you to all who helped make Holy Week and Easter a prayerful and spiritual one! Thank you to our lectors, altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, the choir and organists, those who decorated and prepared the sanctuary, and anyone else who made our liturgies in Christ’s glory—the glory of heaven; the glory of the resurrection; the glory of Easter!
