THE FEAST OF PENTECOST: “Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love!” To be in touch with Christ, we must first have been touched by the Holy Spirit is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says! When the work which the Father gave His Son Jesus to do on earth was accomplished, the Holy Spirit was sent on the day of Pentecost in order that he might continually sanctify the church. Those who are led by the Spirit are called children of God. The Holy Spirit makes us holy, builds up the Body of Christ, and helps to bring the Good News to others. The Holy Spirit opens our minds to understand the death and resurrection of Jesus. The Holy Spirit makes present for us the mystery of Christ, especially in the Eucharist, and brings us to communion with God that we may bear much fruit. Today is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad!
