DISCIPLESHIP: “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening; you have the words of everlasting life.” When we are young, we often make promises that we will follow the Lord wherever He sends us, or do whatever He asks of us. Today’s readings challenge us to hear the call to discipleship, to embrace the invitation, to remember the promise of His presence being with us, and to go where we may not want to be. This may be a new job, a sickness to endure, or loss of someone dear to us. “Here I Am, Lord, I have come to do your will.” Are there places or situations that you are resisting at this time in your life, when, in fact, it may be God who is prompting you to go there?

Prayer for Those Making a Journey

Hear, O Lord, our humble prayers, and guide Your servants safely in the path of Your salvation, that amid all the changes and chances of this life they may ever be sheltered by Your help. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
