WHO IS OUR SECURITY? Jesus and his disciples are on the road to Jerusalem. Jesus is asked to settle a rather mundane issue regarding inheritance. The rich man in the parable believed that his overly abundant crops would buy his future security. Today’s Gospel asks us the difficult question: Have we been more evangelized by the gospel of rugged individualism than we have been by the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

THAT'S NOT MY JOB: There is a story told about 4 people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have.
