Cemetery Rules & Regulations

St. James Cemetery
Cadyville, New York

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

Profoundly aware of the great debt owed to those who have gone before us, who in love and sacrifice have entrusted this parish to us, it is proper and fitting that our parish cemetery be kept in the finest possible condition as our sign of respect and gratitude to them. We stand in awe before God who will one day raise them up and us likewise on the last day.

Our cemetery rules and regulations have been drawn up to facilitate the work of administration and care of the cemetery in extending to everyone equal and fair treatment, to maintain uniform control as well as the beauty of our cemetery.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

2. An easement to a cemetery lot grants the purchaser, the family and heirs, the privilege of being buried in that lot. St. James Cemetery retains ownership of all cemetery lots. Lot owners are expressly prohibited from selling, without first obtaining the necessary permission from the Pastor. No lots or any part thereof may be sold for speculation or gain.

Symbols and designs on monuments should elevate the heart and mind to the presence of God and our loved ones with Him.

6. Shrubs and trees may not be planted in the cemetery. Only one urn will be allowed per lot and this must be placed in such a way as not to interfere with lawn mowing. Artificial decorations, flowers, statues, glass jars, tin cans, glass flower bricks, and so forth are not allowed in the cemetery. If these items are placed on a lot they will be removed.

7. In preparation for Memorial Day only, cut flowers and flower arrangements are permitted with removal of arrangements and containers no later than June 10th. All flowers must be removed when they no longer enhance the appearance of the cemetery. October 1st will be the deadline date for removal of all potted plants and urns.
