Protecting God's Children Program (VIRTUS)
Informational bulletins

In their document Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal, the United States Bishops state: Dioceses will evaluate the background of all diocesan and parish personnel who have regular contact with minors. Background checks are performed on an ongoing basis on all priests, deacons, principals, Catholic school teachers, catechetical personnel, catechetical instructors, youth ministers, those who assist in youth ministry, all volunteers in our various ministries, and all paid personnel.

The VIRTUS program provides ongoing bulletins regarding abuse. Persons in parishes working with youth receive these bulletins so as to be aware of possibilities of child sexual abuse among the children whom they serve.

While these bulletins are planned for paid and volunteer staff, they are also excellent sources of information and awareness for parents and others who have an interest in protecting children.
